PRAYER 1

Sue O’Donnell. 29.06.20

“Profit from your mistakes. Draw wisdom from your pain. Look beneath the surface for the meaning. Start again. Deepened by experiences that have come your way – building your tomorrow on the ruins of today.” (“Thoughts for Every Day” Patience Strong.)

Pray!

Prayer is our approach to God our Father

In order to:

Share,

Care,

Repair,

Be fair,

Even dare.

Do not make this

A rare opportunity.

Rather, seek to pray daily

And see the benefits accrue

For you and all you do.

Tear up your grievance list,

It will not be missed,

Once you go to the One,

His holy Son

And endearing Spirit.

A total unity

Willing, wanting, waiting

To help you.

Pray, do pray,

Please pray!

It will set the day

Aright in God’s sight,

Knowing you are conforming

To His wisdom and guidance,

As gifted us in Jesus.

There is no mystery about this.

God is love

And love likes to act and attract.

All you have to do

Is comply readily,

Giving prayer the time

Which is vitally necessary.

God is not in a hurry,

Nor should you be.

Simply sit quietly,

Silently is better,

Ask the Holy Spirit

To fill your mind,

And you will find

You pray in response.

Rely on the Lord Jesus,

God’s very own Son,

The perfectly holy One.

He mediates for us,

He intercedes for us,

Even pleads for us.

Giving His all

To our call,

Just as He did

At the †

To rid us of sinfulness.

Share your time

With the Three,

Who care for us, incredibly well.

Ask, and the Lord Jesus,

Will be the repair

Of anything broken,

Or fractured relationships.

Be fair in all you ask,

Make the task manageable.

Then dare to hope.

Hope is the result

Of daily prayer,

For in all honesty

You can declare :

“I discovered that I am able to do everything through trusting in the One who always gives me strength.” (Philippians 4 v 13 The Truth)

Lord, to pray is to seek to speak with You. Thank You for allowing this through our Saviour Brother, the Lord Jesus. He, by His †, blesses us, making us of right standing in Your eyes, worthy of a place in Your family.

May the Holy Spirit work with us on this, impacting upon us daily, that we always seek after holiness by striving to become more like the Lord Jesus.

May the Lord Jesus not be somewhere, set far apart from our thoughts, but here in every human heart who loves. Let us discover or re-discover that with Jesus alive in us, we can change the very face of the earth. For

to pray is to find the hope, peace and happiness You offer us, Father God, through Your Son, by Your Spirit. Thank You so much. Amen.
